Visit Funicular Restaurant
Suggestion to explore on your own
For your first night, we recommend taking a funicular up to, yes, Funicular Restaurant. There you can enjoy one of the city’s best panoramic views. This excellent restaurant is located in a Soviet building that has been recently renovated, at the entrance to the Mtatsminda Amusement Park (which you can stroll around for free). The funicular itself dates back more than 100 years, but has fortunately likewise been renovated. Grab “Lagidze Waters” (a popular natural lemonade), and a “ponchik” filled donut, and take in the city from above.

Kazbegi Private Day Trip
You’ll have the chance to explore Georgia’s portion of the Greater Caucasus Mountains on this private full-day Kazbegi. Visit the 16th-century Ananuri Fortress with a private guide, and enjoy amazing views over the Aragvi River from the turreted stone walls. Then you’ll travel through the pretty resort of Gudauri to the Gergeti Trinity Church — nestled beneath the soaring summit of Mount Kazbek and widely considered the region’s top attraction. Capture fine countryside views on camera as you pass through the Dariali Gorge, and learn of the route’s importance for travellers across the Caucasus over the centuries. These mountains are some of the most dramatic in the country, and you’ll enjoy seeing them.

Suggestion to explore on your own
The ancient Abanotubani District sits below the imposing fortress; the brick, domed rooftops of the baths bubble up like spring water. This is the most historic part of the city, as according to legend, it was the sulfur springs that enticed King Vakhtang Georgasali to settle the land and declare it the new capital city in the 5th century AD. There were once more than 60 bathhouses in Tbilisi where people could get squeaky clean or stay for a soak, letting the curative sulfur water ease their ailments. Fast-forward to today: there are five surviving bathhouses in Abanotubani where locals and travelers can experience a sulfur bath.
